Loaner Ukes available for Meeting Days. 

Our Meeting and WhatsApp language is English.  Most songs are in English.  

We are NOT experts. We learn and have fun together.  Better Fun than Perfect.  

We play versions of songs that are ACCESSIBLE FOR EVERYONE, even the person who just started.

Our goal is to learn one song well each meeting.  

If you are Advanced, you are welcome to play with us and then do an OPEN MIC of a song that you have been working on.  

While are meetings are FREE, we encourage participants to become members of the Associazione Italo Americana FVG to help support our efforts and take advantage of other opportunities.

Decide what to play and sing from our repertoire (3 or 4 songs.  max. 15 min.) Make it fun and select songs the the Triestino public knows so they can sing or play along.  One page songs are best.

Karoline wants to make it a Flash Ukulele Party and invite all players to participate.  

We had prepared a play list for another type of event that wasn't held.

      GUEST SPEAKER: Kaitlyn Parrinello - Astrophysicist and Fulbright Researcher in Trieste.

      Kaitlyn graduated from the Villanova University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 2024 (Villanova, Pennsylvania) with a double major in Astronomy and Astrophysics and Italian Studies. She is currently a Fulbright Scholar in Trieste researching Gamma-Ray Astronomy.

      Her research includes X-Ray Binary Systems called GRS 1915 * 105. She has presented her work at the American Astronomical Society conference.

      In Trieste last summer she did research through a partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy and the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics.

      Documentary Film - Bombshell: Hedy Lamarr Story 

      Beauty, brains and groundbreaking innovation.

      Hollywood star Hedy Lamarr (Ziegfeld Girl, Samson and Delilah) was known as the world’s most beautiful woman – Snow White and Cat Woman were both based on her iconic look. However, her arresting appearance and glamorous life stood in the way of her being given the credit she deserved as an ingenious inventor whose pioneering work helped revolutionize modern communication. An Austrian Jewish emigrant who invented a covert communication system to try to help defeat the Nazis, Lamarr was ignored and told to sell kisses for war bonds instead. It was only toward the very end of her life that tech pioneers discovered that it was her concept that is now used as the basis for secure WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth technologies.

      🎤 Guest Speaker: Dom Caristi, Fulbright Scholar - University of Ljubljana, Professor Emeritus, Media Department, Ball State University

      Join us for an insightful workshop exploring how mindset influences both students and teachers in achieving success. Discover how a teacher’s perception of their students' abilities can directly impact student performance and motivation. Learn practical strategies to foster a growth mindset in the classroom and create a more supportive learning environment.

      About the Speaker

      Dom Caristi (PhD, University of Iowa) is Professor Emeritus of Media at Ball State University and co-author of Communication Law, 4th edition (2025). He has been a Fulbright Professor in Slovenia (1995, 2025) and Greece (2009) and has also taught in Italy. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Chapter of the Fulbright Association.

      Throughout his career, he has held fellowships with the Radio Television Digital News Association and the National Association of Television Program Executives. His accolades include:
      🏆 Distinguished Service Award (Iowa Broadcasters Association, 1998)
      🏆 Distinguished Education Service Award (Broadcast Education Association, 2023)
      🏆 Outstanding Faculty Awards (Ball State University, 2012 & 2020)

      Currently residing in Muncie, Indiana, he shares his passion for media and education alongside his wife, Kim.

      Dyslexia in Second Language Learners

      Dyslexia affects up to 15% of students in English-speaking countries. While lower in Italy due to linguistic differences, diagnoses are increasing. This workshop provided practical classroom strategies to support students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs), benefitting all learners.
