CONFIRM - Winter Registration

Our WINTER 2017/18 CLASS SCHEDULES for KIDS and ADULTS remain the same.

If you or your child are currently registered in a FALL CLASS, and you wish to continue in WINTER, we ask you to:
  • ·         WHAT: SIGN in person to CONFIRM your re-registration for the WINTER Session. (Please. No Email or Phone Confirmations)
  • ·         WHEN: During our OFFICE HOURS at the FRONT DESK from November 6th - 18th
  • ·         DEADLINE:  November 18th
If you do not re-confirm by November 18th, a student from the waiting list will have the opportunity to join the class in your place. 

Winter Session lasts 10 weeks.   

This is also a great occasion to pick up your receipts!

If you are currently on a Waiting List, we will contact you after December 4th to inform you of your status.

Nov. 7, 10 am – True Whispers: The Story of Navajo Code Talkers – PBS Documentary
The story of the Navajo men enlisted in the Marines during World War II. From 1942-1945, the Code Talkers devised an unbreakable code in their native language and transmitted vital messages in the midst of combat against the Japanese.



Nov. 10, 5 pm - Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron - Animated Film for Children.  
A wild stallion is captured by humans and slowly loses the will to resist training. Yet throughout his struggles for freedom, the stallion refuses to let go of the hope of one day returning home to his herd.




The story of the revitalization of the Wampanoag language, the first time a language with no native speakers has been revived in this country. The Wampanoag’s ancestors ensured the survival of the Pilgrims in New England, and lived to regret it. Nevertheless, through resilience and courage they kept their identity alive and remained on their ancestral lands. Now a cultural revival is taking place.

Nov. 21, 8 pm - "Segnali di Fumo" - Smoke Signals.  Evening dedicated to Native American Culture.  Presentation of the Native American Pow Wow Agenda dedicated to Paolo Zanier by the painter, Sabrina Matucci.

Our Library hours are:  Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9-12 and Monday to Friday afternoons from 4-7 pm. The Library is volunteer run.  Call for Library Volunteers!
·         Parent Library Volunteers while your children are in class help shelve books and Check-ins / outs. 
·         Library Assistants for 1 or 2 afternoons a week – You’re a Librarian or just love Libraries?  We want you!

HALLOWEEN in CLASS was so much fun!  The young students went Trick-or-Treating, Older students participated in the Halloween Rice Krispies Challenge, made Sugar Skulls or read spooky stories. VOLUNTEERS
We are a Volunteer Run Non-Profit Association.
Volunteers run our Library, American Corner Programs and Activities.  We are looking for Volunteers to Mentor and Manage the Teen Maker Club, Assist with the Nati per Leggere program, Work at the Cinema, Help with our Morning Activities at the Front Desk and in the Library. Send us an email.  We’ll find a role for you.  University of Trieste students in Humanities, P.R. and other majors can earn Internship Credit Hours with us (CFU).   We accept students with a minimum of 75 hours (3 CFU).  You'll have a great experience and improve your English, while you also learn valuable life and people skills. High School Students can also do Alternanza Scuola Lavoro.  Contact us!  aia.fvg@gmail.com 

A Special Call for Volunteer 3D Printer lovers and Makers to help with our Teen Maker Space on Friday afternoons.  You need to know how to use a 3D Printer and love working with teenagers.  Contact us!

AMERICAN CORNER TRIESTE – Programs, consultation of the library, public internet access computers, and Wi-Fi are always free and open to the public.  A great place to study, meet friends, bring your kids.  The US Department of State has granted us a Gold Standard rating in terms of programs, facilities, services! In addition to our regular library, we also feature an Education Advising Section, Children’s Corner Library and Women’s Space.  Consult our on line catalog of Books and DVDs.   The American Corner also offers English and Life Skills Courses for Refugees thanks to a U.S. Government Grant.

Margot Lee Shetterly is the author of Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race. She is also the founder of The Human Computer Project, an endeavor to recover the names and accomplishments of all of the women who worked as computers, mathematicians, scientists and engineers at the NACA and NASA from the 1930s through the 1980s. Margot is a Hampton, Virginia native, a University of Virginia graduate, an entrepreneur, and an intrepid traveler who spent 11 years living in Mexico. She currently lives in Charlottesville, VA
