May Documentaries

DOCUMENTARIES – FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC:

In May we celebrate  Asian Pacific Heritage,  Jewish American Heritage Month and Memorial Day and offer 3 documentaries in theme.




Friday, May 6th, 5 pm – The Legendary Victor Borge – 65 min.  The story of this comic and musical genius of Jewish / Danish /American origin.  Narrated by Itzhak Perlman.  For Jewish American Heritage Month.


Friday, May 20th, 5 pm -   Calling Tokyo – 30 min.The story of a group of Japanese-Americans who as American civilians served during WWII and  Taste of Freedom: Chinese New Year by Burt Wolf – 30 min. – How Chinese Americans celebrate the Chinese New Year and have adapted their traditions in the US. 




Monday, May 30th, 5 pm Medal of Honor – 90 min.  A history of the United States Medal of Honor for military valor.  Memorial Day is on May 30th.

You can become a member at any time of year!  Here is the Membership Form.  You can pay cash or pay via IBAN.  Remember to fill in and scan your Membership Form along with the copy of your IBAN Payment.  Prices remain unchanged:  €35 for the Regular Adult Membership and €25 for Reduced Membership - Students age 16 and over, Teachers and over age 65.  To attend courses, the student (or a parent) must be a member).  Membership is valid for checking out books, magazines, DVD’s and for 9 films in the 2015/16 American Cinema Series in the Original Version at Cinema dei Fabbri and plus reduced ticket prices on other films at Fabbri.  Membership is valid until August 31, 2016.

The Associazione Italo Americana FVG / American Corner Trieste is run by 60 volunteers.  If you are a University of Trieste student in Humanities or P.R., you can get your Internship Credit Hours with us (CFU).   We accept students with a minimum of 75 hours (3 CFU).  You'll have a great experience and improve your English, while you also learn valuable and people skills. Contact us!  aia.fvg@gmail.com  Not a university student?  No problem. We'll find a role for you!

AMERICAN CORNER TRIESTE – Programs, consultation of the library, public internet access computers, and Wi-Fi are always free and open to the public.  A great place to study, meet friends, bring your kids.  The US Department of State has granted us a Gold Standard rating in terms of programs, facilities, services! EARTH - Friday, April 22,2016 at 5 pm . FREE


The American Corner Trieste celebrates “EARTH DAY" on April 22, at 5 pm with the projection of EARTH (titolo in italiano - Earth: La nostra terra) - Docu-Film Disney Nature, 2009, 95 min.  in English.  Free and Open to the Public.  

April 22nd is the 46th anniversary of EARTH DAY.  Each year one month and 2 days after the spring equinox, the United Nations dedicates April 22nd to the Planet Earth..  

April 22nd 5 pm - EARTH (Earth: La nostra Terra)  (DisneyNature, 2007, 95 min).  

An epic story of adventure, starring some of the most magnificent and courageous creatures alive, awaits you in Earth. Disneynature brings you a remarkable story of three animal families on a journey across our planet – polar bears, elephants and humpback whales.

A co-production BBC and Disney Nature, filmed in 200 locations in 26 nations around the globe by a 40 member film crew. 

The film follows the 4 seasons starting in January.  We are taken from the Artic to the Tropics, from the ocean to the desert, and pass through the rain forest.
