TOPSIDE BRASS BAND

U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa Band's Topside Brass Band is a high-energy ensemble with a wide-ranging repertoire of traditional and modern New Orleans music, Rhythm and Blues, Top-40 hits, and arrangements of international favorites. In demand throughout two continents, Topside engages and captivates audiences with its dynamic style and is perfect for any festive occasion with concerts supporting international partnerships and diplomacy.

BAND HISTORY

United States Navy Musicians have a long and diverse history in Europe. Since the early 1950's they have been telling the Navy story and serving in this culturally rich region as goodwill ambassadors of the United States. The current composition of the U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa Band traces back to two separate U.S. Navy Bands in the Naples region; the former Commander-in-Chief, Allied Forces Southern Europe (CINCSOUTH) Band and the Commander, U.S. SIXTH Fleet Band.

For over fifty years, both bands operated out of Naples, Italy until a realignment of commands and leadership dictated a more efficient structure, resulting in the merging of both bands into the single organization serving today. Over the years, military musicians from Greece, Turkey, Italy, Albania, the United Kingdom, the United States Army, Marines and Air Force served alongside their United States Navy counterparts as members of the CINCSOUTH or Naval Forces Europe Band.

Today, NATO allied partner musicians currently assigned to U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa Band include Italian military musicians from the Italian Air Force, Army, Carabinieri, and Navy. The band provides support for official military and community relations events locally and across an area of responsibility that include the entirety of Europe and Africa, with a long and proud history of representing the United States and her partners and allies while on deployments, participating in military exercises, and through key international engagements. The U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa Band currently resides at Naval Support Activity Naples in Naples, Italy.
