‘We Were Recruits’ follows the story of a young recruit who joins The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. The narrative takes the audience from the base unit to the frontlines, providing a powerful look into the experiences of modern-day heroes. Rather than solely focusing on the military aspects, the film touches upon the personal stories of eight soldiers from The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, portraying them not only as skilled professionals, but as regular folk like you and me, with families, hopes and dreams for a peaceful future, serving as a testament to the resilience of ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary circumstances.
