The American Corner Trieste is so honored to host Dr. Eugene Richardson Jr., Tuskegee Airman, to speak about his experience as an Afro-American pilot in the Tuskegee Air Corps during World War II and the changes that came about thanks to the Civil Rights Movement in the US. After his military service, Dr. Richardson, continued his education, got a Doctorate in Education thanks to the GI Bill and became a school principal in Phildelphia. Now retired, Dr. Richardson visits schools around the country speaking of his experience and the Civil Rights Movement.
President Obama just paid tribute to the service of the Tuskegee Airmen, who were his guests of honor at the White House last month for the screening of the new film "Red Wings" by George Lucas starring Cuba Gooding Jr. Last week Dr. Richardson was the keynote speaker for Black History Month at Vanderbilt University.
