SEPTEMBER… Back to work and Back to School!

Time to get back to work and school.

have a full schedule of activities and
courses to keep you busy! Don’t forget
to renew your membership so that you can attend our film series, use our
library and take advantage of member only activities.
RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP!
Membership is valid for 1 school year. Renew for 2013/14! In addition to our American Cinema Series, we
also have a fantastic library with over 5000 books, magazines and 1000 DVD’s
that are available for check-out for members. Membership is €25 for students,
teachers and over age 65 and €35 for regular membership. You must be 16 to become a member. Our Membership Goal for 2013/14 is 700, 1000
members would be even better! Bring a
friend, your spouse, your colleagues… your mother, your teenager!

We are a volunteer run organization. Officially these are our hours for the Library
and for Information. Courses and
Programs may be held outside of office hours.

4-7:00 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9-12. Registration is open. We have lots of classes this year. Intensives, Mommy & Baby, Just Parents, Materna, Elementary, Middle School, High School, English for Young Native Speakers, Adult English at all levels, Business English at Lunch, Italian at Lunch. PRESENTATION OF 2013/14 ACTIVITIES – Tuesday, September

It’s going to be fantastic again this year: American Film Series, Made for Each Other,
Friday American Experience, Thursday Coffee Breaks, Storytime, American Cooking
School, TGIF, Life in Trieste “Welcome Home Stranger Series”, Morning Play Date
and MUCH MUCH MORE! We are thinking of
new activities while you sleep… literally!We are a 100% Volunteer Run organization. Only our teachers are paid. We manage the library, answer the phone, clean, take out the garbage, assemble furniture, do the accounting, design flyers, organize programs, staff the cinema, organize Storytime, present documentaries, cleanup after TGIF, set-up for Coffee Break. Sound interesting? Come on down! We would love to have you join us!

Contacts – From TEXT to SCREEN Film Series – September 24- October 15th – Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m.
Giulia
Iannuzzi, a post-doc, has put together a great program of classic Sci-Fi films
and TV Series, linking the original novels to the films. Science Fiction to the max. Before each film, a commentary about the media
“contact” and more info about the making of the films.

school children from Harlem who compete in a business plan competition, that
changes their lives (85 min.)Sept. 20th – Guest Speaker - Shae McNamara, Life Coach and Professional American Athlete in Pro Basketball and Australian Rules Football, speaks on “Creating Action in your Life by Following Your Dreams and Your Goals”
Sept. 27th – Spellbound – 8 Young Americans who share one goal: to win the National Spelling Bee (107 min.)
TGIF! – in our office from 7 p.m. – OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Back in October with more ethnic cuisine and good
company!Three days of American Studies with scholars from all over the Italy and the US will be in Trieste for their Bi-Annual Conference. The topic is Discourses of Emancipation and the Boundaries of Freedom. Here is the link for more details. You can attend any sessions that you want, but the coffee breaks and meals are reserved for registered attendees. Of special local interest is:
