AIA FVG ENGLISH COURSES

SUMMER STEAM – Think Summer!  Registration is Open for Summer Full Immersion Mornings for Kids from age 3 through High School.  Info and Registration LINK. 

NEW! INTENSIVE SUMMER TEST PREP – If you’re thinking of going to the University in the US, you will need to take standardized Entrance Exams. TOEFL or IELTS for English and SAT or ACT for general knowledge for US College Admissions.  Summertime is the best time to study for these exams.   Info and Registration LINK. 

HIGH DIVE FULL IMMERSION MORNINGS for ADULTS – Take the plunge.  A Full Immersion English Class without leaving Trieste.  Monday to Friday 9-1 pm.  Info and Registration LINK.

Speakers:  JOSEPH SCIORRA, Director for Academic and Cultural Programs at the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute (New York).  LAURA E. RUBERTOProfessor of Humanities, Berkeley City College (Berkeley, CA) Teaches film studies courses and interdisciplinary liberal arts courses that focus on cultural studies, material culture, aesthetics, and media.

Our 2017/18 Membership Year began on September 1st.  Here is the Membership Form.  Membership prices remain unchanged.  €25 – Ridotto for Students 16 and over, Teachers and 65 and over.  €35 – Intero.  Membership is valid until August 31, 2017.  Renew your membership each year to take advantage of the American Film Series, Register for Courses, Check out Library materials, Participate in Members Only Events.  READ MORE about what it means to be a Member.  You can become a member at any time of the year.

24 hour GLOW Weekend - Thanks to all our MENTORS and GIRLS!  So interesting. So much fun. So little sleep.  Everybody did a great job.  Enjoy the summer and see you in the Fall. Girls Leading Our World!

TESOL Seminar Teaching the 21st Century Student hosted by the TESOL TRIESTE LOCAL GROUP  - 4 talented teacher / speakers.  What can we say?  Inspiring.  Join the group and receive MIUR Credit, enrich your C.V. and get professional development! Teachers are taking a much needed break and will be back in the Fall with more events.  Make a topic suggestion. Be a speaker.

IOWA State University – a group of 17 students and 2 professors is spending 3 weeks in town for “Trieste and the Meaning of Place”.  They leave on June 5th.  You might see them in our space.  Say Ciao and start a conversation!

Where are our Interns from? We currently have interns from the University of Alaska and the University of Trieste. This summer some high school students from Liceo Petrarca will join us.

CALLING ALL FULBRIGHT and US DEPARTMENT of STATE EXCHANGE PARTICIPANTS
Did you study abroad with a FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP or through a US Department of State Exchange Program? Send us an email if you or someone you know participated in one of these programs!  We are organizing an Alumni Group in Trieste. aia.fvg@gmail.com

VOLUNTEERS
We are a Volunteer Run Non-Profit Association.
Volunteers run our Library, American Corner Programs and Activities.  We are looking for Volunteers to Mentor and Manage the Teen Maker Club, Assist with the Nati per Leggere program, Work at the Cinema, Help with our Morning Activities at the Front Desk and in the Library. Send us an email.  We’ll find a role for you.  University of Trieste students in Humanities, P.R. and other majors can earn Internship Credit Hours with us (CFU).   We accept students with a minimum of 75 hours (3 CFU).  You'll have a great experience and improve your English, while you also learn valuable life and people skills. High School Students can also do Alternanza Scuola Lavoro.  Contact us!  aia.fvg@gmail.com 

AMERICAN CORNER TRIESTE – Since 2007, we have been part of the American Spaces Network.  Programs, consultation of the library, public internet access computers, and Wi-Fi are always free and open to the public.  A great place to study, meet friends, bring your kids.  Specific sections of the library are dedicated to Educational Advising, Children’s Corner Library and Women’s Space.  Consult our on line catalog of Books and DVDs.   The American Corner also offers Life Skills in English Courses for Refugees thanks to a U.S. Department of State Grant and the US Diplomatic Mission to Italy.
