Both science fiction and thriller, The Fury is a gripping example of the classic psychic powers theme. The young protagonists are dragged into an obscure research project about the weapon potential of supernatural power.

New MIDDLE SCHOOL CLASS starts next week
Starting next week October 17, we are ADDING a new section of Middle School English. The course will meet from 3-5pm for ten weeks. For students already enrolled in the Tuesday class, missed lessons can be made up on Thursdays.

Star Trek and The Stepford Wives - This week
TRIESTE TREKKIES! Beam yourselves over to American Corner Trieste. This Tuesday and Thursday at 8 pm, 2 more evenings of classic Science Fiction in the SCI-FI CONTACTS: from Text to Screen Series. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

- The Naked Time (50 min.): adapted as a short story by James Blish, in Star Trek (1967). Orbiting planet Psi 2000, a strange affliction infects the starship Enterprise crew, destroying their inhibitions....
- Arena (50 min.): adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s short story Arena (1944) (teleplay by Gene L. Coon). Captain Kirk from the Federation starship Enterprise battles an alien captain who destroyed a Federation outpost.

Welcome Fall Quarter Students! Classes start the first week of October. There are still openings. You can join our classes at any time. Do you want to try a course. No problem, try a lesson at no charge and decide. In addition to our regular English courses, we also offer Italian for foreigners at lunchtime and in the evenings. courses to keep you busy! Don’t forget
to renew your membership so that you can attend our film series, use our
library and take advantage of member only activities.

Membership is valid for 1
school year. Renew for 2013/14! In addition to our American Cinema Series, we
also have a fantastic library with over 5000 books, magazines and 1300 DVD’s
that are available for check-out for members and member’s only activities.
Membership is €25 for students, teachers and over age 65 and €35 for regular
membership. You must be 16 to become a
member. Bring a friend, your spouse,
your colleagues… your mother, your teenager!

AMERICAN FILM SERIES 2013/14
Our 33rd Annual
English Language American Film Series will be shown at the Cinema dei Fabbri,
Via dei Fabbri 2/A in Trieste. Showings
will be on Thursdays at 2, 4, 6:30 and 9 pm.
The first film of the series is Silver Linings Playbook (starring
Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert DeNiro) on November 14th.
(This substitutes the film “42” that was previously published in our
program but is not available for distribution).
