Italian for Foreigners


We are offering another Italian for Foreigners class. This time it will be on Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm to accomodate those of you who are working (or who just prefer evening classes). The presentation of the course will be on March 30 at 7pm and the course will begin the week after and continue for 5 weeks with the possibility for another 5 weeks if there is enough interest. If you have any questions, talk to Karoline at the Association. A presto!

Friday Documentary -American Road Trip-Golden Gate Bridge


Friday Documentary is back. This week we propose American Road Trip! The Golden Gate Bridge.

Join us and and Michael, our host, to learn all the behind the scenes stories of this San Francisco landmark.
Come on, we know that some of you are San Franciscans! If you're homesick, this is the place for you. On the other hand you might be a trivia expert, so you can enlighten some of the East Coasters and Mid-Westerners who happen to be around!

MARCH 2011 NEWS

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US AGAIN!   The Associazione Italo Americana celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year.  We want to make this year last a long time, so we will spread out special events during the course of 2011. 

ITALIAN COURSES
Sta andando benissimo!  It’s going great.  Lots of fun and no stress thanks to a neat group of students and fun teachers.
Italian Class continues on Wednesdays from 10 – 12.  You can still join the class with Gloria.
Italian Conversation Coffee Hour is held on Mondays from 11-12.  Open to the Public (preferably non-native Italian speaking) and moderated by Simonetta and Andrea (native Italian speakers with teaching experience).   The only rule is that you have to speak Italian or at least try!  Enjoy an espresso and practice your Italian… don’t worry, nobody will laugh.  Many of us are in the same boat!  Have you ever been in a room with 20 Laurel and Hardy’s in dubbed Italian version?

Children’s Corner –Following our official inauguration in February, we have received an excellent approval rating from our young visitors.  The Children’s Corner is open to schools as well.  If you’re a teacher, call for more information.

Monday Nights - The Barbershop - March 7th

Monday Nights continues.
March 7th at 8:30 p.m. at Cappella Underground with The Barbershop (2002 comedy, directed by Tim Story).
This companion film to last week's Sanford and Son takes place in South Side Chicago. The main character inherits his father's barbershop, which he decides to sell...then he has second thoughts and tries to get it back.

Enjoy the film and the commentary with Leonardo Buonomo.
