About the film – The True Cost is a story about clothing. It’s
about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the
industry is having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for
decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The
True Cost is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain
on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our
clothing?
Filmed in countries all over the world, from
the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the
world’s leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth and Vandana
Shiva, The True Cost is an unprecedented project that invites us on an
eye opening journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and
places behind our clothes.
Directed by Andrew Morgan, USA, 2015.
Three special guests will be with us to
discuss the documentary:
Sergia Adamo -
teaches Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at the University of
Trieste. She was Visiting Professor and Research Scholar at Cornell University
(NY), Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, Alpen-Adria-Universität
Klagenfurt, among others. She has written and edited books and articles on
intercultural relations and on literature and other cultural fields. In 2013
she translated into Italian Judith Butler’s Gender trouble (Questione
di genere. Il femminismo e la sovversione dell’identità, Laterza).
Annalisa Mogorovich is currently a Ph.D. candidate in History of Societies, Institutions and Thought from Medieval to
Contemporary History at University of Trieste where she is working on a research
project titled “The African American Intellectual Leadership and the New Deal:
the Federal Council on Negro Affairs”. She is a member of C’era una Volta l’America (www.ceraunavoltalamerica.it) since 2012, she won the
Agostino Lombardo Award in 2014 for the best Master of Arts dissertation in
American Studies defended in Italy and recently she received an Honorable
Mention provided by the African American Intellectual History Society
Conference (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill).
Luigi Pellizzoni teaches
environmental sociology and political sociology at the university of Trieste,
His research interests are located at the intersection of three main themes:
risk, uncertainty, environmental change and sustainability; the impacts of
scientific advancement and technological innovation; conflict, participation,
deliberative democracy and the transformation of governance. Among his recent
publications: Neoliberalism and technoscience: critical assessments (con
M. Ylonen), Ashgate 2012; Ontological politics in a disposable world: the
new mastery of nature, Routledge 2015.

vestiti che indossiamo, delle persone che li realizzano, e dell'impatto che
l'industria dei vestiti ha sul nostro pianeta. Il prezzo dei vestiti diminuisce
da decenni, ma al contempo i costi umani e ambientali sono aumentati
drammaticamente. The True Cost è un documentario di rottura, che rivela
i retroscena dell'industria della moda, e invita tutti noi a chiederci: chi sta
davvero pagando il prezzo dei nostri vestiti?
Girato in location sparse
per il globo – dalle passerelle più scintillanti alle baraccopoli più oscure -,
con interviste a personalità tra le più influenti nel dibattito contemporaneo
come Stella McCartney, Livia Firth e Vandana Shiva, The True Cost ci

Americans can vote. Wherever they are.
Americans citizens abroad are encouraged to register to vote as absentee voters. In order to be sure to receive your ballot, you should re-register every January.
Even if you have never lived in the US or Voted in the US, you have the right to vote.
Register in the state where you last voted or lived. If you never lived in the US, but your parents did, register in the state where your parents lived and use the residence address where your parents last voted or lived.
Election Day is on November 8, 2016. REGISTER NOW so that you are sure to receive your ballot in time. When you receive your ballot in October, complete it and send it back ASAP so that your vote is received in time.
