March 14th at 6 p.m. with the PBS Documentary Triangle Fire, 60 min. - OPEN TO THE PUBLIC - P. S. Antonio, 6 - Trieste

The story behind the 1911 tragic fire in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in NYC that led to International Women's Day and labor reform.

Book Club - Tuesday, March 11, 2014 - 10-11

Book Club this week! 

Tim Parks is our author of the month.  Italian Neighbors, Italian Education, Teach us to Sit Still, Italian Ways, Medici Money, Europa, Cara Massimina are just some of his works.  An Englishman living in Northern Italy for  over 30 years, he applies his very British sense of humor in every line. 

 

We will read short excerpts from 3 of his non-fiction works - Italian Neighbors, Italian Ways and an essay.  You can pick up copies in the office or we can e-mail them to you.

 

March 25th is the next meeting.  Do you have questions for Mr. Parks?  E-mail them to us and we hope that he will answer!

Launch of Women's Library - March 18th - 6 pm

BREAKING NEWS!!

On March 18th at 6 pm we will officially launch our WOMEN'S CORNER LIBRARY.

Our guest of Honor will be Kyle Scott, US Consul General Milan. 

Consul Scott will cut the ribbon and speak about Women's History. 

All are welcome!  Open to the Public.

You are still in time to donate a book in English that you feel is important to women.  The book can be new or gently used (Monetary contributions for the purchase of books are also welcome).  From now until May 31st all donors will be recognized as Founding Donors.  Suggested themes include Women's Health, Women's Finances, Women's Relationships, Mentoring, Empowerment for Women and Girls, Feminism.

In March we will focus on Tim Parks, an Englishman who has been living, writing and teaching in Northern Italy for over 30 years.

 

He uses his wry sense of humor in non-fiction such as Italian Neighbors, Italian Education, Italian Ways, The De Medici Story, Teach Us to Sit Still as well as in fiction: Cara Massimina, Europa, Cleaver and many other works.
