Winter Weather Closing Policy- We close ONLY IF the city of Trieste closes public schools for severe weather.  Stay up to date on our BLOG. 



NEWS – SPECIAL EVENTS at the AMERICAN CORNER
Ambassador Visit!  US Ambassador Eisenberg visited us on December 10th.  Between official meetings, the Ambassador met with some of our volunteers and visited our space.  View the RAI  FVG interview by Giorgio Bearz, RAI FVG journalist and son of the last Consular Agent in Trieste.

We are an association.  In order to participate in members only events, attend the American Film Series, take a course, check out library materials, you MUST be a 2019/20 MEMBER
Our 2019/20 Membership Year began on September 1st

14/01, 10 am – Film CITIZEN KANE (1941) 2 hours. Drama. Orson Welles – Writer, Director, Star.
Considered one of the GREATEST FILMS EVER MADE.  Nominated for 9 Academy Awards, but received only 1 due to heavy lobbying against the film. Among the first 25 films inserted in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.
Loosely based on the life of William Randolph Hearst. Following the death of publishing tycoon Charles Foster Kane, reporters scramble to uncover the meaning of his final utterance; 'Rosebud'

28/01, 11 am - Short Story Club Yellow Journalism – Hearst & Pulitzer Sparked the Spanish American War from National Geographic.  “Fake News” is nothing new.

REFUGEE BEAR PROJECT – Integration through Entrepreneurship
Check out our Refugee Bear Migration Map.  Many bears got new homes over the holidays. Tell us where your bear is and we’ll add your location to the map!  Send us a picture and the location of your refugee bear and we’ll add it to Instagram.  Follow the Refugee Bears on Instagram and Facebook . A call for fabric donations and large buttons!  Non-stretch materials please. 

NEWS FOR AMERICAN CITIZENS
2020 is a GENERAL ELECTION YEAR.  Request your
Absentee Ballots now with your Federal Post Card Application, so you will be set for the entire year.  Let your voice be heard in the Presidential Primaries and General Election.  If you’re an American Citizen, you can register to vote… even if you have never resided in the United States.  VOTING REGISTRATION INFO HERE.

VOLUNTEERS
We are a Volunteer Run Non-Profit Association. Volunteers run our Library, American Corner Programs and Activities.  We are looking for Volunteers to Work at the Cinema, Help with Sewing and with our Morning Activities at the Front Desk and in the Library, TESOL Speakers, Teen Maker Space Mentors, Assistants for Nati per Leggere.  Send us an email and we’ll find a role for you.  University of Trieste students in Humanities, P.R. and other majors can earn with us (CFU).  We accept students with a minimum of 75 hours (3 CFU).  You'll have a great experience and improve your English, while you also learn valuable life and people skills.  Contact us! aia.fvg@gmail.com 

AMERICAN CORNER TRIESTE – Since 2007, we have been part of the American Spaces Network.  Programs, consultation of the library, public internet access computers, and Wi-Fi are always Free and Open to the Public.  A great place to study, meet friends, bring your kids.  Specific sections of the library are dedicated to Educational Advising, Children’s Corner Library and Women’s Space.  Consult our on line catalog of Books and DVDs.   The American Corner also offers Life Skills in English Courses for Refugees and Case Workers thanks to a U.S. Department of State Grant and the US Diplomatic Mission to Italy.  The American Corner promotes the Refugee Bear Integration through Entrepreneurship Project, encouraging professional refugee tailors to use their skills to produce the beautifully unique teddy bears, using recycled materials.
