SPECIAL EVENTS


·         PRESIDENTIAL FILM SERIES - 10 am – Duck Soup with the Marx Brothers, 12 noon – Man of the Year with Robin Williams, 2 pm – Primary Colors with John Travolta.
·         ELECTION NIGHT PARTY 8-10 pm.  Soup & Salad while following the polls, Selfies with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, Election Trivia, Polling Station, Predictions.  €7 Contribution per participant.  Prepaid Reservations must be made by November 7th.


12/11– PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP for LANGUAGE TEACHERS, 2 – 5 pm. Free and Open to Language TeachersThe theme is: Creating a Learning Community: Engagement through Connections.  Send an email to aia.fvg@gmail.com to participate.  Space is limited. Working Language: English.  Congratulations to our teachers Janine, Karoline and Marina who will be presenting at the TESOL Conference in Rome in November. 
 
Event reserved for 2016/17 Members and their Families.  Our Annual Family Style Thanksgiving Pot Luck Dinner.  Italians bring the drinks and dessert, North Americans and Anglo Saxons bring the Side Dishes, we supply the turkey.  70 people, 3 turkeys, lots of fun!  €15 contribution for Adults, €5 for Children ages 5-12.  Prepaid Reservations Required. Limit:  70 people. 
We need Volunteers to Cook, Set up and Clean up.  We will be cooking on Friday afternoon and Saturday. Send us an email at aia.fvg@gmail.com and we’ll assign you a shift.

Integrating Immigrant and Minority Children through Education.  Guest Speaker: Delia Pompa, former Director of the Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Languages Affairs in the U.S. Department of Education and former Executive Director of the National Association for Bilingual Education.

Here are the Course schedules for 2016/17:  KIDS and ADULTS.  The next Weekend Warrior Full Immersion Intensive Weekend of the year is Nov. 26-27.  The Winter Session begins on January 9th.  If you wish to continue the Winter Session for yourself or your child, please confirm to aiafrontdesk@gmail.com by November 18th.   We have waiting lists for several courses. Remember to pick up your receipts at the Front Desk during our Office Hours.

VOLUNTEERS
We are a Volunteer Run Non-Profit Association.
Volunteers run our Library, American Corner Programs and Activities.  We are looking for Volunteers to Mentor and Manage the Teen Club, Assist with the Nati per Leggere program, Work at the Cinema, Help with our Morning Activities.  Send us an email.  We’ll find a role for you.  University of Trieste students in Humanities or P.R. can earn Internship Credit Hours with us (CFU).   We accept students with a minimum of 75 hours (3 CFU).  You'll have a great experience and improve your English, while you also learn valuable people skills. Contact us!  aia.fvg@gmail.com 

AMERICAN CORNER TRIESTE – Programs, consultation of the library, public internet access computers, and Wi-Fi are always free and open to the public.  A great place to study, meet friends, bring your kids.  The US Department of State has granted us a Gold Standard rating in terms of programs, facilities, services! In addition to our regular library, we also feature an Education Advising Section, Children’s Corner Library and Women’s Space.  Consult our on line catalog of Books and DVDs.
The American Corner also offers English Courses to Refugees thanks to a U.S. Government Grant. Coming Soon
