AIA FVG ENGLISH COURSES and MEMBERSHIP

FALL ENGLISH CLASSES start the week of September 19th
Here are the Course schedules for 2016/17:  KIDS and ADULTSRegistration is Open.  We also offer classes for Native Speakers – Elementary and Middle School.  The first Weekend Warrior Full Immersion of the season will be Sept. 24-25. 

Our 2016/17 Membership Year begins on September 1stHere is the Membership Form.  Membership prices remain unchanged.  Euro 25 – Ridotto for Students 16 and over, Teachers and 65 and over.  Euro 35 – Intero.  Membership is valid until August 31, 2017.  Renew your membership each year to take advantage of the American Film Series, Register for Courses, Use our Library, Participate in Members Only Events.

The film series begins on October 27th.  The dates are set and the film list will be published in October.  9 great American films in Original Version.  We confirm that the series will continue to be held at Cinema di Fabbri.

NEWS for U.S. CITIZENS

AMERICANS CAN VOTE. WHEREVER THEY ARE.  If you are an American citizen, register to vote ASAP.  Go to www.FVAP.gov and fill out the Voter Registration and Absentee Ballot Request Form.  On October 3rd, the US Vice Consul will collect completed Absentee Ballots and send them to the US via Diplomatic Pouch at no charge.

Monday, OCTOBER 3, 2016 from 10–12:30 the Vice Consul of the US Consulate General Milan will be at the American Corner Trieste to offer:
·         CONSULAR SERVICES for US CITIZENS:  passport applications, notarial services, report of birth /death abroad, Social Security Number card applications – only upon appointment at aia.fvg@gmail.com.  No Visa Services. 
·         VOTER ASSISTANCEacceptance of completed ABSENTEE BALLOTS to be sent directly to your local US Board of Elections postage-free, assistance for WRITE-IN BALLOTS – no appointment necessary

Monday, OCTOBER 3, 2016 at 3 pm the Vice Consul of the US Consulate General Milan will
present safety tips and recommendations for U.S. Students studying abroad: Voting from Abroad, Emergencies while Abroad, Services the Consulate can Offer Students.  Free and Open to the Public.

SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION at American Corner Trieste
October 20, 2016 an Official from the US Federal Social Security Administration in Rome will be in Trieste to accept Social Security applications and answer related questions.  By appointment only:  aia.fvg@gmail.com

US Ambassador to Italy John Phillips and Ambassador Philip Reeker US Consulate General Milan visited us and met with our Refugee Students and Teachers this summer.  Thanks to a contribution from the US Diplomatic Mission to Italy, the American Corner teaches special English Courses for 60 Refugees.

Mr. Eskinder Negash will be on ShareAmerica streaming live, speaking to audiences around the world about the Global Refugee Crisis.  He will speak to a live audience in Athens, Greece, and answer questions from posts around the world. President Obama appointed Mr. Negash as the Director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), where he served from 2009 – 2015. #AIDREFUGEES

VOLUNTEERS
We are a Volunteer Run Non-Profit Association.
Volunteers run our Library, American Corner Programs and Activities.  We are looking for Volunteers to Mentor and Manage the Teen Club, Assist with the Nati per Leggere program, Work at the Cinema, Help with our Morning Activities.  Send us an email.  We’ll find a role for you.  University of Trieste students in Humanities or P.R., can earn Internship Credit Hours with us (CFU).   We accept students with a minimum of 75 hours (3 CFU).  You'll have a great experience and improve your English, while you also learn valuable and people skills. Contact us!  aia.fvg@gmail.com 

AMERICAN CORNER TRIESTE – Programs, consultation of the library, public internet access computers, and Wi-Fi are always free and open to the public.  A great place to study, meet friends, bring your kids.  The US Department of State has granted us a Gold Standard rating in terms of programs, facilities, services!
