Independence Day, Cookouts, Vacation, Summer Movies, Summer Reading! 
 
SUMMER HOURS
Our Summer Library/Office Hours are:  Monday and Wednesday 4 – 7 pm, Tuesday and Thursday 9-12.  Fridays Closed.  Courses are held as scheduled, but there are no library or administrative services when the office is closed.  The office will be closed from July 28th until August 15th.   Individual lessons will be held as you have scheduled with your teacher.
 
INTENSIVE COURSES – Sign up early, Space is limited!
Elementary Intensive Weeks will be held starting on July 14th and July 21st.   Learn by doing, and having fun in English!  Monday to Friday 9-12. 
More intensive weeks for Elementary, Middle School and High School will be held before school starts:  August 25th and September 1st.
Of course individual lessons for all ages can be organized all year long, even in the summer!
 
July 4, 7 pm – 2 am at White Café – Via Genova 21/A – Trieste – OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
This year we’re taking it on the road!  Literally!  We’re celebrating with the local motorcycle club.  The “bikes” will be on display and the DJ Jack Rabbit Slim will keep things moving until 2 am.
 
SUMMER MUSICAL MATINEES –OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Tuesday and Thursday mornings 10-12 am
Let’s Get Musical!  Something for Everyone:  Kids, Grandparents, Adults.  From June 17th until July 24th .  Enjoy our cool room and go home singing.  More hits this month!  In English with Italian subtitles (if available).

July 17th – Show Boat

Wednesdays, 6-7 pm starting on June 18th

I ♥ READING SUMMER READING Competition for Children and Adults – Check out a book, Get a Point!  Put a trip to the library on your weekly summer agenda.  All Summer Long!  What are you reading?

We have the entire collection of Educational Advising books for study in the US.  New DVD’s have just arrived and are being added daily. All of the Wimpy Kid books are here in English too!

CINEMA AS ART An Introduction to the Art and History of Movies
Dr. Leslie Taubman, guest speaker will talk about how Cinema has evolved.  Film Clips. 

RELAXATION and ANTI-STRESS in English - July 10, 10 am - OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Take it easy.  An extra meeting using the Gestalt method in English.
 
THURSDAY COFFEE BREAK, FRIDAY AMERICAN EXPERIENCE, WOMEN’S SPACE, WELCOME HOME STRANGER, TUESDAY BOOK CLUB

All three initiatives back in September!

 

WINE, CHEESE and BOOKS – June 30th at 8 pm in Via Franca 4/1 at Helena’s M’s house.

We’re making a plan for Book Club for the Fall.  No books tonight,  just bring a bottle of wine or something to eat and lots of ideas.  Open to the Public.

Congratulations to all teachers who participated in the free online “Shaping the Way We Teach English” Course.  Most probably the course will be re-proposed in January 2015.  We’ll keep you posted.

 

2014/15 MEMBERSHIP

We started selling Memberships for 2014/15.  The prices remain unchanged:  €35 for the Regular Adult Membership and €25 for Students, Teachers and Over age 65.  Membership is valid for checking out books, magazines, DVD’s and for the 2014/15 American Cinema Program starting in the Fall.  Membership should be renewed each year.  If you are a 2013/14 member, you can continue to use our library until Fall 2014

 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Remember that we are a volunteer organization.  We are looking for people to work in the afternoons at the Front Desk, manage library checkouts and for a variety of roles.  Contact us!  We’ll keep you busy!
