MARCH Here is our 31-day plan for a month that comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.

PLEASE NOTE: Starting this month, the Association will remain closed on Ariston Movie Nights from 4-8pm, we will be open in the morning from 10-12. This will free our volunteers up for seeing the movie and helping at the cinema. Thank you!

GUEST LECTURER – Dr. Eugene Richardson Jr., CIVIL RIGHTS and the ROLE of the TUSKEGEE AIRMEN –
Tuesday, February 28th, via Roma 15, 2:30 p.m. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Dr. Eugene Richardson, Jr. , a veteran Tuskegee Airman born in 1925, will speak on his experience as an Afro-American pilot in the Tuskegee Air Corps during World War II and the changes that later came about thanks to the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. It is a great honor to have Dr. Richardson with us. What a fitting conclusion to Black History Month. Don’t miss this opportunity!

CONVERSATIONS about the ECONOMY, via Roma 15, 6:15 p.m. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Your chance to speak live (in person or via Skype) with American business people. When will the recession end? What is a 401K? How is the real estate market going? US tax rates? Interest Rates? How are retail sales? Come ask REAL PEOPLE your questions and answer theirs, or just come to listen.

FRIDAY DOCUMENTARY SERIES, via Roma 15, 6:00 p.m. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
This month the series is dedicated to WOMEN’s HISTORY MONTH. Join Michael for this series featuring high-achieving American women, and the role of women in U.S. history as they fought to end slavery, protect the poor, win the right to vote, as well as equal rights in education and employment.
March 3rd – History of Women’s Achievement in America, part 1 -from the colonies to the wild west
March 9th – part 2 – from female writers to female activists
March 16th –part 3, - from voting rights to civil rights Guest Lecturer: Karen Hartman -US Embassy Rome
March 23rd – part 4 – from women’s lib to secretary of state
March 30th – Amelia Earhart – Queen of the Air – the story of this great aviator and her mysterious disappearance

SATURDAY STORYTIME, via Roma 15, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
We’re back for 5 more Storytime dates after the Bora and Carnival. Our program for this year ends this month. In April you’ll all be outside enjoying the daffodils. Jennifer and our volunteer team of mother tongue Mommies / Daddies are keeping everybody engaged with stories, songs and crafts. Call the office and make a reservation. No stress, just fun. One family member must be a member. Not a member yet? Try it, you’ll like it.

AMERICAN COOKING SCHOOL
A foodie tour of the US without leaving Trieste. This initiative has been made possible thanks to the sponsorship of the US Embassy Rome and US Consulate Milan. El Paso: Tex-Mex was such a success (see mouth watering photos) that we will try to offer New Orleans: Cajun twice. We need a minimum of 10 students per class. The class on March 15th is already full. You can still register for the extra class on March 14th which will be confirmed once we have enough participants. Andrea, ESL teacher and professional chef, teaches a hands-on cooking course of US regional specialties. For Members Only. Dinner (prepared by you on-site) and recipes included!
