Monday Nights- Sanford and Son


Sanford and Son is our featured Sit-com this week. Join us, Leonardo Buonomo, Fred and Lamont Sanford for this TV Classic.
Monday, February 28th at 8:30 p.m. at Cappella Underground, Via Economo 12/9- Trieste.
Fred is an L.A. junk dealer who loves to drive his son crazy. This 1970's Norman Lear creation was named by Time Magazine "One of the 100 best TV shows of all time".
Next week's companion film is Barbershop.

High School and Middle School Brush-up Classes


We are offering special classes to Middle School and High School students who need a little (or big) brush-up to finish the year on a high note. Here is the info:

The course will last 10 weeks.

Children's Corner

The Children's Corner in our library is going strong! And the approval rating from our mini-visitors is excellent!


We had a fantastic inauguration with TV crews, the press, 2 classes of 3rd graders and Jack Hillmeyer, Public Affairs Officer at the US Consulate Milan as our guest reader.

In this episode, see Martin Luther King as he receives the Nobel Peace Prize and witness the walk of 25,000 people from Selma to Montgomery for the passage of the Voting Rights Bill.

Inauguration - Children's Corner


Thursday, February 10th at 10 a.m. we will have the official ribbon cutting ceremony and inaugurate the new Children's Corner.
Our guests of honor will be 2 classes of 3rd grade students from the Compresorio "Altipiano", who will read "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein, followed by a related activity and of course enjoy a snack!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!  The Associazione Italo Americana celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year.  We want to make this year last a long time, so we will spread out special events during the course of 2011. 

1st EVENT for our 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Wednesday, February 9, 2011, 6-8 p.m., via Roma 15
This fantastic musical event,  broadcast from the White House with President Obama as Master of Ceremonies in honor of Black History Month. Featuring songs from the Civil Rights Movement performed by top entertainers such as Yolanda Adams, Joan Baez, Natalie Cole, Bob Dylan, Jennifer Hudson, John Mellencamp, Smokey Robinson, the Blind Boys of Alabama, the Howard University Choir and The Freedom Singers.

During this evening take the opportunity to get a sneak preview of our Children’s Corner that will be inaugurated on February 10th with a group of elementary school students.  This is our new area just for kids!

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY Associazione Italo Americana del FVG!


To kick off our 50th anniversary year (1961-2011), join us Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. in via Roma 15, for a special celebration evening of fantastic music ... with President Obama as the Master of Ceremonies.

We will project: In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement.

In honor of Black History Month, President Obama invited Joan Baez, Natalie Cole, Bob Dylan, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, the Howard University Choir and many other top names to perform their music at the White House.
