WINTER WEATHER CLOSING POLICY- We close ONLY IF the city of Trieste closes public schools. Stay up to date on our BLOG. 

We are an association.  In order to participate in members only events, attend the American Film Series, take a course, check out library materials, you MUST be a 2019/20 MEMBER. 
Our 2019/20 Membership Year began on September 1st. 
Here is the Membership Form.  If you have been a member in recent years, we can quickly upload your data in the office.  Membership prices remain unchanged.  Euro 25 – Ridotto for Students 16 and over, Teachers and 65 and over.  Euro 35 – Intero.  Membership is valid until August 31, 2020.    Questions? aia.fvg@gmail.com

WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH is our Theme.  2020 is the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Voting Rights. 
Special Events:
10/03 - 10 am - Film: Iron Jawed Angels: Votes for Women (2004) 123 min.  Starring:  Hilary Swank, Margo Martindale, Anjelica Huston.  Defiant young activists in 1917 take the women's suffrage movement by storm, putting their lives at risk to help American women win the right to vote.
17/03 - 10 am - Documentary: I Am a Girl - Stories of Girls Around the World  (2014) 88 min. Six girls around the world, coming of age, ready to become something extraordinary.
27/03, 5:00 pm – FAMILY FILM – Little Women (1994) 115 min.  Starring: Susan Sarandon, Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst. Based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott.

PROJECT 28 - Project 28 participants are female asylum seekers, in Italy with their children, spouses or relatives, from various nations, and assisted by local mentor women.  Our sewing project is by women for young women.  Join us!  We’re looking for seamstresses, designers, sponsors, health care professionals.  


REFUGEE BEAR PROJECT – Integration through Entrepreneurship
Check out our Refugee Bear Migration Map.  Many bears got new homes over the holidays. Tell us where your bear is and we’ll add your location to the map!  Send us a picture and the location of your refugee bear and we’ll add it to Instagram.  Follow the Refugee Bears on Instagram and Facebook . A call for fabric donations and large buttons!  Non-stretch materials please. 

NEWS FOR AMERICAN CITIZENS
SOCIAL SECURITY – In Trieste. Presentation and Individual Appointments to be RESCHEDULED.

2020 is a GENERAL ELECTION YEAR. 
If you’re an American Citizen, you can register to vote… even if you have never resided in the United States Request your Absentee Ballots now with your Federal Post Card Application, so you will be set for the entire year.  Let your voice be heard in the Presidential Primaries and General Election.  VOTING REGISTRATION INFO HERE.

VOLUNTEERS
We are a Volunteer Run Non-Profit Association. Volunteers run our Library, American Corner Programs and Activities.  We are looking for Volunteers to Work at the Cinema, Help with Sewing and with our Morning Activities at the Front Desk and in the Library, TESOL Speakers, Teen Maker Space Mentors, Assistants for Nati per Leggere.  Send us an email and we’ll find a role for you.  University of Trieste students in Humanities, P.R. and other majors can earn with us (CFU).  We accept students with a minimum of 75 hours (3 CFU).  You'll have a great experience and improve your English, while you also learn valuable life and people skills.  Contact us! aia.fvg@gmail.com 

AMERICAN CORNER TRIESTE – Since 2007, we have been part of the American Spaces Network.  Programs, consultation of the library, public internet access computers, and Wi-Fi are always Free and Open to the Public.  A great place to study, meet friends, bring your kids.  Specific sections of the library are dedicated to Educational Advising, Children’s Corner Library and Women’s Space.  Consult our on line catalog of Books and DVDs.   The American Corner also offers Life Skills in English Courses for Refugees and Case Workers thanks to a U.S. Department of State Grant and the US Diplomatic Mission to Italy.  The American Corner promotes the Refugee Bear Integration through Entrepreneurship Project, encouraging professional refugee tailors to use their skills.
